Position Summary

This Coach’s main responsibility is to ensure the achievement of technical upgraded objectives which is targeted as 80% of the five-year-old class graduates are able to recognize 80% of Khmer’s consonants (27 characters) and 70% of Khmer’s vowels (16 characters).

Coach is a service-based position supervised by the senior coach and it will be responsible for building capacity of teachers through regular coaching services plus some monitoring and report tasks.

It is a consultancy-based position and the location of his/her residing is regarded as office.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Major Responsibilities
  • Work with the senior coach to develop the coaching plan and other capacity development plans such technical meetings, class demonstration, instructional materials development…etc.
  • Prepare budget plan for field travels, food, and other related expenses of instructional materials development.
  • Participate in weekly meeting with senior coach.
  • Participate in relevant capacity building activities such as meetings, trainings, workshops, and study visits…etc provided by KrY, government, and/ other stakeholders.
  • Participate in monthly coaching forum to update the teacher’s coaching service with senior coach, ECE and M&E coordinators, management team.
  • Coaching and Feedback
  • Strictly implement the coaching guideline
  • Observe the class activities, especially during the Khmer language subject (Learning and teaching as well as related personal hygienic activities; toothbrushing and hand- washing…etc.)
  • Observe the learning and instructional materials (Teaching/session plan, teaching materials, and administrative documents or ledgers)
  • Observe the class decoration (If it is made according to the standard)
  • Conduct class demonstration when necessary.
  • Interactive discussion to explore further gaps and challenges
  • Providing feedbacks, suggesting possible solutions, and recommendations for further improvement.
  • Provide training and material support to help teachers achieve their improvement according to the feedback/recommendations.
  • Encourage school directors to participate in coaching/feedback session at least once a month.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
  • Prepare the coaching report of each teacher under her/his supervision to the senior on regular basis (Follow to the coaching guideline)
  • Ensure that additional Khmer’s teaching hours mainstreamed into other subjects to reach at least 8 learning hours per week (Ref. Coaching guideline)
  • Assist the teachers to regularly administer and report the school readiness test and HCC’s literacy test for the five-year-old classes.
  • Engage in appraising the performance of the teachers
  • Work with school directors and teachers to ensure daily class operation will start from 7:00 to 11:00am and from 1:00 to 5:00pm for the afternoon shift.
  • Collaborative Support with project officer
  • Promptly share related concerned issues with the respective project officer in terms of school attendance, breakfast/snack and milk management, practice of hygienic activities, and situation of facilities as well as the playgrounds.
  • Participate in problem-solving related to children and teachers’ issues (Ex. Low attendance, absence of teacher, maternity leaves, and recruitment of substitute teachers)
  • Other tasks may be requested to perform by the senior coach when needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma

Work History

  • Teaching experience for the state, community, and private pre-schools for 2 years as a minimum

General & Technical Skills

  • Be trained for at least 15 days on pre-school pedagogy by governments, NGOs, and other institutions.
  • Own smart phone and be able to use some communicable social media applications such Facebook, Chat Messenger, and Telegram…etc.
  • Own a motorbike and be able to drive it.

Soft Skills

  • Sound an interest in working in the rural communities and love children.
  • Sound of good interpersonal and communication skills.
