Job Purpose/Summary
The Accountant is responsible for performing daily accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reconciliations, and supporting financial reporting. The position ensures that all financial transactions are recorded accurately, supporting compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Job Scope/ Decision Making Authorities
The Accountant Coordinator works within the Finance Department to ensure the smooth operation of all accounting activities and supports compliance and reporting obligations.
- Functional Scope: General ledger maintenance, reporting, reconciliation, tax filing, and coordination of accounting activities.
- Operational Area: School-wide finance transactions including multiple campuses or branches, if applicable.
- Collaboration: Works with finance team, school admin, purchasing department, and external vendors.
- Supervision: May supervise junior accountants or cashiers.
KPI Review Timeline
- Monthly: Bank reconciliation, reporting, transaction audit
- Quarterly: Team performance review, process improvement tracking
- Annually: Compliance review, audit readiness, and feedback summary
Duties & Responsibilities
- Daily Accounting Operations
- Record daily financial transactions accurately and timely.
- Verify supporting documents, invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers.
- Ensure proper coding and classification of transactions.
- Maintain organized accounting records and filing systems.
- Accounts Receivable and Revenue Monitoring
- Monitor student fee collections and outstanding balances.
- Reconcile student collection reports with accounting records.
- Follow up on discrepancies and coordinate with campuses.
- Bank and Cash Reconciliation
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Assist in monitoring cash balances and fund requirements.
- Coordination and Supervision
- Coordinate tasks among the accounting team (e.g., accountants, cashiers).
- Monitor task completion and assist team members with complex accounting tasks.
- Support the Finance Manager in preparing reports and overseeing team performance.
- Reporting and Compliance
- Assist in preparing monthly financial reports.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation as required.
- Tax and Compliance
- Assist in preparing tax schedules and supporting documents.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and Cambodian tax regulations.
- Support internal and external audit processes.
- System and Process Improvement
- Help implement and improve accounting systems and procedures.
- Ensure data is recorded in a timely and organized manner within accounting software.
- Recommend improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- School Participation
- Attending staff meetings, training workshops, and parent conferences is required.
- Participation in school activities, including field trips, events, and assemblies, is required.
Languages
- Khmer - Good is required

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Work History
- Accounting/finance for 2 to 3 years as a minimum
General & Technical Skills
- CPA or ACCA certification is highly preferred.
- Experience in the education sector is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping.
- Knowledge of Cambodian tax regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency in both Khmer and English (written and spoken) is required.
