Junior Accountant

Job Description
About Us
We are a professional services firm in Phnom Penh. Our books run on our own cloud platform, and we work with remote consultants who verify the accounts and advise on compliance.
The Role
You handle the daily bookkeeping: entries, filing, scanning, and the paperwork that keeps the books current. You work under a senior accountant, who reviews your entries and decides what needs correcting. Part of your job is learning our internal finance platform well enough to tell us where it's confusing or where you got stuck.
This is a hands-on, entry-level role. You are not expected to close the month alone or make judgment calls on classification without asking.
Core responsibilities
- Record journal entries in our internal platform, daily, from the documents you're given
- Scan, name, and file source documents (invoices, receipts, bank slips) so they can be found again
- Attach the right document to the right entry in the platform
- Chase down a missing document or a missing signature when asked, and report back when you can't get it
- Support month-close: pull the numbers a senior accountant asks for, in the format asked for
- Flag anything that looks wrong before you enter it, rather than entering it and hoping someone catches it later
What we are looking for
- 0 to 2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience. A recent accounting graduate is welcome to apply
- Careful, exact data entry. You check your own work before handing it over
- You ask when you're not sure, rather than guessing. We would rather answer a question than fix a mistake
- Khmer for local documents and government offices, and enough written English to follow daily instructions and report back clearly
- Comfort with cloud tools: accounting systems, shared storage, task trackers, chat
What we are not looking for
- Someone who wants to be told once and then works alone for a week. This role gets checked often, and that's by design
- Someone who fixes what looks wrong on their own rather than asking first
- Certification for its own sake. We care what you can do, and we will test it
How we work
- Every morning you post the day's plan. Every evening you report what was done and what was not
- Everything of consequence is written down. Verbal answers do not close items
- A fast "I am stuck on this" is worth more to us than a slow "I sorted it out"
Hiring process
- CV and a short note on why the role interests you
- A practical assessment done in our office, roughly one hour. It tests careful data entry and whether you ask the right questions when something doesn't add up
- Interview with the team
