Position Overview

The Project Officer – Education is responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring and reporting of BAMBOOS' education projects in Cambodia. The position works closely with the Head of Education and Project Manager to ensure education activities are implemented effectively and achieve their intended outcomes. The Project Officer will work directly with schools, teachers, students, communities and other stakeholders and will support the collection of project information, documentation and evidence.

The position is primarily focused on education projects. However, as BAMBOOS is a small and collaborative organisation, the Project Officer may also be assigned to support projects under another department when required by organisational priorities and where the assignment is appropriate to their skills and capacity.

Working Approach

The Project Officer – Education is primarily responsible for supporting BAMBOOS' education and learning projects but may be assigned to support projects under another department when organisational needs require it. The specific project assignment may change over time based on project requirements, staff capacity, organizational priorities, and the employee’s skills and development.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Implementation
  • Support the planning and implementation of assigned BAMBOOS education projects.
  • Assist with project plans, activity schedules, timelines and implementation arrangements.
  • Coordinate assigned project activities with schools, teachers, students, communities and other stakeholders.
  • Follow up on project activities and deadlines.
  • Support the preparation and organisation of project materials and documentation.
  • Identify implementation challenges and report them to the Project Manager or Head of Education.
  • Ensure assigned activities are implemented according to approved plans and procedures.
  • Education Activities & Quality
  • Support the implementation of education activities, training, workshops and school-based initiatives.
  • Coordinate with teachers, students and schools to ensure activities run effectively.
  • Support the preparation of learning and training materials.
  • Collect feedback from teachers, students and other beneficiaries.
  • Monitor participation and basic outcomes of education activities.
  • Support the Project Manager in identifying lessons learned and opportunities to improve project quality.
  • Coordination & Stakeholder Support
  • Maintain positive working relationships with schools, teachers, communities and project partners.
  • Coordinate meetings, activities, training sessions and school visits as assigned.
  • Communicate project information clearly to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support communication between the Project Manager, schools and other project stakeholders.
  • Represent BAMBOOS professionally during project activities and meetings when required.
  • Monitoring, Documentation & Reporting
  • Collect project information, data, photographs and other supporting evidence.
  • Maintain accurate and organised project records.
  • Support monitoring of project activities against agreed plans and indicators.
  • Prepare activity updates and supporting information for project reports.
  • Contribute to donor and internal reporting as requested.
  • Document success stories, challenges and lessons learned.
  • Administrative & Cross-Department Support
  • Support project-related procurement, logistics and administrative arrangements.
  • Assist with project budget documentation and financial supporting documents when required.
  • Support the Project Manager and Head of Education with other project- related tasks.
  • Work collaboratively with Finance, Construction and other BAMBOOS teams when required.
  • Support projects under another department when assigned by the Country Manager in consultation with the relevant Head of Department.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties related to BAMBOOS' programmes and operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Development Studies, Education, Project Management, Civil Engineering, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field.

Work History

  • Project implementation, NGO/development work, education, construction, community development, or a related field. for 1 year as a minimum

General & Technical Skills

  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to project sites.
  • Good written and spoken English and Khmer.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
  • Experience working with NGOs or international development organizations.
  • Experience working with schools, communities, or local authorities.
  • Experience in construction/project site monitoring.
  • Experience in education or training projects.
  • Experience with project reporting, data collection, or monitoring and evaluation.
  • Basic knowledge of project budgeting and procurement.
  • Ability to use Canva, Google Workspace, or other digital tools for project documentation and communication.
