About the Role

As Song Saa Foundation strengthens its Community Programme, the Teaching Development Officer will play a central role in delivering education across Koh Rong's communities- supporting environmental and marine literacy, foundational academic skills, and capacity building for learners of all ages. Working within SSF's Community Programme, this role will have a primary focus on education delivery and development, working alongside the wider team to support SSF's broader community goals. This is an excellent opportunity for a Cambodian educator with a passion for teaching and an interest in the marine environment to shape how SSF delivers education across the Koh Rong Archipelago. The role sits within the Foundation's core team and reports directly to the Programme Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Education Delivery (45%)
  • Deliver environmental and marine education to students and community members across Koh Rong, tailored to different age groups
  • Deliver Sala Classes, including English and academic support, to students in Prek Svay
  • Deliver capacity-building education and training to adult community members as required
  • Adapt teaching delivery to be effective in both English and Khmer, depending on audience
  • Curriculum & Programme Development (25%)
  • Support the development and refinement of educational content and curriculum across SSF's education activities
  • Contribute educational expertise to the development of training materials used across the Community Programme
  • Support the future development of SSF's youth programme, helping older students identify and prepare for their next steps
  • Track and report on education activity participation and outcomes, contributing to SSF's Community Results Framework
  • Community Programme Support (20%)
  • Work within and support the wider Community Programme, contributing to Livelihood Support, Waste Management and Health & Wellbeing activities as required
  • Support community education sessions led by other programme areas, where educational expertise is needed
  • Cross-Team and Ad Hoc Support (10%)
  • Provide flexible support to all programme activities and the wider team as operational needs demand
  • Assist with other ad hoc tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Teaching, or a related discipline is required

General & Technical Skills

  • Teaching experience across varying ages
  • Excellent spoken and written English and Khmer
  • Comfortable using everyday technology, including Google Drive, Excel and similar tools
  • Willingness to live and work in a remote island location
  • ​Experience working for an NGO, including reporting and documentation
  • Experience in curriculum development
  • ​ Interest in marine life and the environment
  • Experience living in a remote or rural setting
  • ​Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply
