What an Application Security Engineer at Autodesk actually does:

• Work with engineering teams to understand how applications operate, identify valuable assets and trust boundaries, examine possible attack paths, and recommend suitable security measures.
• Evaluate the security of applications built using large language models (LLMs), AI agents, and other AI-based technologies. This includes examining how these systems access information, use tools, and interact with other services.
• Investigate risks such as prompt injection, unintended  data exposure, excessive permissions, insecure output handling, and inappropriate access to sensitive information.
• Help create security guidance, reference architectures, and secure design patterns for AI-enabled products. Relevant frameworks may include OWASP’s guidance for LLM applications and MITRE ATLAS.

• Review AI features and application designs, conduct adversarial prompt testing, and check whether security controls, permissions, and data access restrictions work as intended.
• Use tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Claude Code to support development of security tools while helping engineering teams use AI coding assistants safely.
• Contribute to technical documentation, developer guidance, and security training so that teams can incorporate security into their software development process.
• Coordinate with developers, security specialists, product teams, and other stakeholders to improve Autodesk’s application and product security practices.

Autodesk Off Campus- Eligibility Criteria:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

Required skills:

• Foundational understanding of application security principles and secure software design
• Familiarity with threat modeling concepts and methodologies such as Spoofing, Tampering, Repudiation, Information Disclosure, Denial of Service, and Elevation of Privilege (STRIDE), data flow diagrams, and attack trees
• Working knowledge of how Large Language Model (LLM)-based applications are designed and developed, including an understanding of their unique security risks
• Ability to develop automation and security tooling using Python, Go, or an equivalent programming language
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) or coding agents as part of a software development workflow
• Familiarity with modern software development practices, including Git-based version control and Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)
• Strong ownership, curiosity, problem-solving skills, and willingness to learn in a collaborative environment.
