Position Summary

Location Shrewsbury International School Phnom Penh

The School Registrar & Parent Liaison plays a crucial role in fostering strong and positive relationships between the school and our existing parents. This role requires excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills to effectively engage parents, build trust, and enhance the overall school community experience. The successful candidate will also manage the student records system.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Parent Communication:
  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies to keep parents informed about school events, policies, and student progress.
  • Manage various communication channels, including newsletters, emails, website updates, social media, and school apps.
  • Organise and facilitate parent-teacher conferences, workshops, and information sessions.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to parent enquiries and concerns, ensuring they are addressed and resolved by liaising with the relevant parties.
  • Provide interpretation assistance during parent orientations, parent-teacher meetings, and other relevant activities as needed.
  • Parent Engagement:
  • Plan and execute engaging parent events, such as social gatherings, fundraisers, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Encourage and support parent involvement in school activities and decision-making processes.
  • Recruit and manage parent volunteers for various school programmes and events as detailed in the school’s marketing strategy and action plan.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all parents.
  • School-Home Partnerships:
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to strengthen school-home partnerships.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve parent-teacher communication and collaboration.
  • Promote positive parenting strategies and resources to parents.
  • Data Management:
  • Maintain accurate records of parent communication and engagement.
  • Analyse parent feedback and use data to inform and improve school programs and services.
  • Other Duties as Assigned:
  • Assist with other administrative tasks as needed, such as enrolment processes, student records, and emergency procedures.
  • Assist parents with uniform purchase orders and coordinate with the Finance team for uniform storage and maintenance.
  • Dedicate efforts to help new families adapt to SISPP during their first term and proactively support them throughout.
  • Update lunch and snack menu every Monday via ClassDojo
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and the Head of Primary to update student attendance records weekly or termly.
  • Work closely with the Head of Primary to manage after-school club registrations for students and instructors.
  • Assist the academic team with planning educational trips, including transportation and logistics.
  • ​ Support the Head of Primary during Friday assemblies, parent seminars and any other activities as needed.
  • ​ Help with the preparation of report cards and parent ID cards.
  • Promote and uphold the safeguarding and welfare of all students in the school.
  • To develop the mechanisms by which to produce a monthly Parent Communications Report drawing on feedback from academic support staff, parent hotlines, admissions staffs.
  • Measurement and evaluation of communication activities to constantly improve and drive effectiveness
  • Crisis Communication:
  • Lead on strategy and content development to manage issues or crises at the school
  • Work with the Head of Primary to tailor crisis communications protocols and templates for local implementation
  • Anticipate and advise on potential issues
  • Develop plans to attenuate and manage issues

Languages

  • Khmer - Good
  • English - Good

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Communications, or a related field.

Work History

  • Education or a customer service role for 3 years as a minimum

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills:
  • Ability to communicate in Khmer, English and Mandarin. Strong written and verbal communication, active listening, and the ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills: Ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in technology: Expertise in using various communication platforms, including email, social media, and school management software.
  • Strong customer service orientation:*A commitment to providing excellent service to parents and building strong relationships.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented: Ability to identify and address challenges proactively and find creative solutions.
  • Teamwork and collaboration: Ability to work effectively with colleagues, administrators, and parents as part of a team
