Position Summary

Reporting line: IFL Supervisor

Department: English Program

The Teacher of English is responsible for delivering effective and engaging English language instruction to students at various grade levels. The teacher should plan lessons that promote all four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), foster critical thinking, and create an inclusive, supportive, and disciplined classroom environment. The teacher is expected to monitor student progress, communicate with parents, and actively participate in school events and professional development.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Lesson Planning & Delivery
• Design and deliver lessons that align with the school’s English curriculum.
• Use a variety of teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ diverse learning needs.
• Prepare weekly and term lesson plans and submit them for review as required.
• Classroom Management
• Maintain a positive, respectful, and well-managed classroom environment.
• Apply appropriate disciplinary strategies to support student growth.
• Promote active participation, collaboration, and academic integrity.
• Student Assessment
• Create, administer, and grade assignments, quizzes, and exams.
• Track and report student progress on a regular basis.
• Provide feedback to students and communicate results to parents/guardians.
• School Engagement
• Participate in school events, parent meetings, and academic workshops.
• Support extracurricular activities related to English (e.g., spelling bee, reading clubs, debates).
• Cooperate with other teachers and staff to ensure student success.
• Professional Development
• Teachers are required to attend at least one (1) training session or workshop per term as part of their compulsory professional development.
• Actively participate in internal training sessions, workshops, meetings, and professional learning activities organized by the institution.
• Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, teaching strategies, and classroom management techniques.
• Stay updated on current trends, methodologies, and developments in English language education.
• Reflect on personal teaching practices and seek feedback from supervisors or academic leaders to improve instructional effectiveness.
• Apply new teaching strategies and knowledge gained from professional development activities to classroom instruction.
• Contribute ideas, materials, and resources that support the improvement of teaching and learning within the program.
• Engage in self-directed professional learning, such as reading professional literature, attending relevant webinars, or taking online courses.
• Maintain a positive and proactive attitude toward continuous professional growth and improvement.
• Support and participate in peer observation or mentoring activities when required.
• School Participation
• Attending staff meetings, training workshops, and parent conferences is required.
• Participation in school activities, including field trips, events, and assemblies, is required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the management.

Languages

• English - Fluent

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in English, Education, TESOL, TEFL, or related field

Work History

• Teaching experience in an academic setting for 1 to 2 years as a minimum

General & Technical Skills

• Experience working with ESL/EFL learners is a plus.
• Excellent command of the English language.
• Effective communication, presentation, and classroom management skills.
• Ability to use educational technology and interactive tools (e.g., Google Classroom, PowerPoint, Smartboards).
