Description

- Plan and deliver engaging Mandarin lessons for non-native speakers, appropriate to students' age, proficiency level, and learning needs.
- Teach Chinese language skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing, using methodologies suited to second-language acquisition.
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, classroom activities, and assessments.
- Monitor and assess students' progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and academic progress.
- Create a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the learning needs of students with different abilities and starting proficiency levels.
- Collaborate with homeroom and other subject teachers on integrated planning where relevant.
- Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and school administrators when required.
- Participate in school activities, meetings, professional development, and other duties as assigned.
- Follow school policies, procedures, and safeguarding requirements, including a satisfactory background/police clearance check as a condition of employment.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Chinese Language, Education, Teaching, Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL/TCSOL), or a related field.
- At least 3 years of teaching experience, preferably teaching Mandarin to non-native speakers at Elementary and/or Middle School level.
- Strong command of Mandarin Chinese, both spoken and written.
- Professional working proficiency in English (spoken and written), sufficient for staff meetings, parent communication, and professional development.
- Knowledge of Mandarin as a foreign/additional language teaching methodologies and effective classroom management.
- Ability to prepare engaging and age-appropriate teaching materials and activities for learners at varying proficiency levels.
- Patient, responsible, well-organized, and enthusiastic about working with students.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- A positive attitude and commitment to supporting students' learning and development.
