● Strong organisational and communication skills. Fluency in Khmer and working proficiency in English is a requirement.
● Knowledge of the agricultural industry in Cambodia. Previous experience working with smallholder farmers is an asset.
● Willingness to learn basic technical skills like soil sampling, taking plant yield data. Agronomic background is an asset.
● Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders, including smallholder farmers, NGO partners, and Cambodian ministries.
● Familiarity with Google workspace environment, including Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Meets. This is a hybrid work position that requires field visits and reporting via virtual meetings with Arukah’s HQ in Singapore.

The project manager (trials) is responsible for managing Arukah’s academic and commercial biochar trials in Cambodia. The role involves communication with farmers, researchers, and commercial partners to ensure trial designs meet the requirements of various stakeholders. After trials conclude, the project manager will also need to work with the team to communicate trial results to commercial partners. Candidates are expected to be able to travel to the provinces to meet with farmers, collect feedback on the trial process and biochar product, and distill useful information for the Arukah’s Singapore-based HQ. Fluency in English and Khmer is a requirement.

Arukah has secured trial partners for various target crops, and is in the midst of designing trial procedures. In this initial stage, the project manager will work with our agronomist and partner farmers to gather feedback on the trial procedure and assess feasibility. Once the trials commence, the project manager will be involved in supporting on-site data collection, photo documentation, and coordinating site visits for partners/ Arukah’s Singapore-based team.

We are looking for someone who is self-directed, adaptable, and has a heart for improving agricultural livelihoods in Cambodia.
Duties

● Plan and manage trial timelines, milestones, and deliverables, working closely with Arukah’s agronomist.
● Overall governance and oversight of on-the-ground research activities.
● Assist with on-site data collection for trials, including soil samples for lab testing and yield data.
● Carry out farmer surveys on current fertilisation practices, as well as effectiveness and application process of biochar throughout the trial.
● Provide agronomic support on biochar application/ associated issues upon farmer request, working closely with Arukah’s agronomist.
● Design and conduct workshops and farmer training on biochar application best practices, working closely with Arukah’s NGO partners.
● Support with promotional activities for Arukah’s products.

This role will require frequent travel to the provinces, including Kampong Cham province, Kandal province, and Takeo province. Candidates are expected to be comfortable arranging transport independently.
