National Consultant on REDD+, Remote Sensing/GIS and Drone Technology

Position Summary

The National Consultant will provide technical support for REDD+ implementation, forest monitoring, Remote Sensing and GIS, and drone-based monitoring under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Project. The consultant will support the development of integrated monitoring approaches using satellite imagery, spatial data, drone technology, and field observations to strengthen forest and protected-area monitoring in Cambodia.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for REDD+ implementation and forest monitoring activities.
• Conduct remote sensing and GIS analysis, including forest-cover monitoring, forest-loss assessment, and spatial mapping.
• Support the integration of satellite imagery, GIS datasets, ranger observations, and drone imagery.
• Identify priority forest monitoring areas and permanent drone monitoring zones.
• Support the identification of drone hotspot monitoring stations and development of drone mission plans.
• Provide technical inputs to the Spatial Land Monitoring System (SLMS), early warning, and AI-assisted forest monitoring.
• Coordinate technical consultations and field assessments with protected-area managers and ranger officers.
• Prepare technical reports, maps, spatial datasets, and recommendations.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Natural Resources Management, Environmental Science, Forestry, Climate Change, or a related field. is required
