Position Summary
The Procurement Officer will oversee the purchasing activities for pesticides, fertilizers, and other agricultural products, ensuring cost-effective procurement of high-quality materials. The role requires strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills to secure the best deals and meet the company’s supply chain needs. In addition, the Procurement Officer will accompany the Director on international trips, particularly to China, to attend exhibitions related to pesticides and fertilizers, with the objective of identifying new suppliers and staying updated on industry trends.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Procurement Management:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for pesticides, fertilizers, and other related products.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to ensure high-quality, cost-efficient purchases.
- Maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure continuity of supply and negotiate long-term contracts.
- Monitor and track purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and resolving any discrepancies or delays.
- Supplier Evaluation and Contract Negotiation:
- Conduct supplier evaluations based on product quality, pricing, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure advantageous terms and conditions.
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure continuous improvement.
- Market Research:
- Stay updated on industry trends, new products, and innovations in the pesticides and fertilizers market.
- Conduct cost and market analysis to benchmark pricing and ensure competitive procurement.
- Exhibition Participation:
- Accompany the Director to China and other international locations to attend pesticides and fertilizer exhibitions.
- Assist in identifying potential suppliers, new products, and innovative solutions during exhibitions.
- Build connections with global suppliers and manufacturers to expand the company’s supply network.
- Prepare reports and recommendations based on findings from exhibitions and supplier meetings.
- Inventory and Stock Management:
- Work closely with the warehouse and logistics teams to monitor inventory levels and ensure an uninterrupted supply of critical products.
- Manage procurement schedules to maintain optimal stock levels without over-purchasing.
- Budget and Cost Control:
- Prepare and manage procurement budgets to align with the company’s financial objectives.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through better procurement processes and supplier negotiations.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure all procurement activities are in compliance with local regulations and company policies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all procurement activities, including purchase orders, supplier contracts, and payment schedules.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise and train procurement staff, ensuring team performance aligns with company objectives.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline procurement processes and enhance operational efficiency. Qualifications:

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Work History
- Procurement, preferably in the pesticides, fertilizers, or agricultural chemicals industry for 3 to 5 years as a minimum
General & Technical Skills
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Ability to travel internationally and attend exhibitions.
- Knowledge of procurement software and systems.
- Proficiency in English and Chinese (preferred, for ease of communication with suppliers during international trips).
